The Clear Take on Water and Wastewater Today

Wisdom is Knowing There Is Always More to Learn

Education Plays a Critical Role in Water and Wastewater Operations and Management

Alan MeyerOver the last three decades, PeopleService has developed an expertise in the operations and management of water and wastewater facilities. I attribute this to the emphasis we’ve always placed on education. Our success simply wouldn’t be possible without an educated team that strives to remain on the cutting-edge of industry best practices.

Our expertise comes from shared knowledge passed down from operator to operator, hands-on experience in the field, tracking the latest in legal and regulatory issues, and keeping a keen eye on developments in the industry on a national and global level. In taking these steps, we make certain we always provide our clients with the best advice and insights on how to keep their facilities running efficiently and cost-effectively.

The water and wastewater industry is experiencing intense change. As a large part of the current workforce moves toward retirement, the water and wastewater industry seeks to repopulate its workforce with highly educated operators and technicians to take the field into the next decade and beyond.

That’s why we encourage our team members to upgrade their licenses and certifications. We help them do that by offering them tuition reimbursement and annual on-the-job training seminars. It’s about ensuring that the next generation has what they need to succeed and thrive.

For instance, in April, we put together an intensive wastewater seminar for our employees. This seminar gave them the opportunity to train with Kay Curtin, an expert in the field of wastewater management. Kay is a recognized leader who has spent 39 years as an operator, laboratory technician, director, consultant, trainer and supervisor. In addition to her many industry achievements, Kay is also a highly respected instructor with a track record of getting results. The intensive class she presented was specifically designed for PeopleService to help our employees attain higher levels of certification in wastewater.

We set a high bar for ourselves and the communities we serve. We understand that by actively supporting our operators’ education and career growth we build a stronger and more knowledgeable staff. The results of these efforts can be seen in the field every day. PeopleService has built its reputation on providing our clients with the best people, the best service and the best advice that keeps their water and wastewater systems running smoothly and safely. Our commitment to excellence goes hand in hand with our commitment to education.
